Introduction
Cannabis (marijuana, hashish) is the most widely used illicit drug in the world (UNODC, 2007). Cannabis dependence develops in a subset of users, typically daily or near daily users. Prevalence rates of cannabis dependence vary by region, but generally exceed the rate for dependence on any other illicit drug (AIHW, 2008; EMCDDA, 2008; SAMHSA, 2008; UNODC, 2007). Clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy for several psychosocial interventions, but, to date, there are no medications known to improve clinical outcomes for those seeking treatment for cannabis use disorders (Benyamina et al., 2008; Nordstrom and Levin, 2007; Vandrey and Haney, 2009). 1-s2.0-S037687161200292X-main.pdf
