The general aim of this study was to investigate the reliability and factor structure of the stages of 12 change readiness and treatment eagerness scale (SOCRATES) in 326 outpatients with alcohol 13 dependence. The questionnaire was translated and cross-culturally adapted into Portuguese and back- 14 translated to English. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that two correlated factors provided the 15 best fit for the data.
