The Endocrine System and Alcohol Drinking in Females

A review of preclinical evidence indicates that sex differences in the endocrine system may play an important role in alcohol drinking and addiction-related behaviors. Understanding alcohol’s effects on the female endocrine system may be important in the development of pharmacotherapy for women with alcohol use disorder.
