Open air drug scenes represent very substantial challenges to health and law enforcement professionals around the world, especially in LAMI countries. Crack-cocaine users have gathered for 25 years in Cracolândia (São Paulo, Brazil), one of the worlds largest open drug scenes. Several initiatives have provided treatment, employment and accommodation, but the Cracolândia problem is complex and impact has been limited, highlighting the need for a multi-dimensional perspective and multi-agency response.

Sobre a UNIAD

A Unidade de Pesquisa em álcool e Drogas (UNIAD) foi fundada em 1994 pelo Prof. Dr. Ronaldo Laranjeira e John Dunn, recém-chegados da Inglaterra. A criação contou, na época, com o apoio do Departamento de Psiquiatria da UNIFESP. Inicialmente (1994-1996) funcionou dentro do Complexo Hospital São Paulo, com o objetivo de atender funcionários dependentes.
