Alcohol use among adolescents and young adults is a major health concern in the United States. According to a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration report pub- lished in 2004,1 ∼10.9 million (29%) adolescents reported drinking alcohol in the past month, 16.6% reported problem behaviors related to alcohol use, and 6.2% met Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition criteria for substance abuse or dependence.2 Because of the risks involved, considerable attention has been given to the influence of al- cohol advertising on underage drinking.
