Co-occurring alcohol use disorder (AUD) and other mental health conditions present unique challenges for both substance use and mental health professionals. The extent of the AUD and the type of co-occurring mental health condition can make it difficult for clinicians to distinguish each condition and identify potential treatment strategies. This issue examines the current literature on the etiology, prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment of co-occurring AUD and mental health conditions.

Sobre a UNIAD

A Unidade de Pesquisa em álcool e Drogas (UNIAD) foi fundada em 1994 pelo Prof. Dr. Ronaldo Laranjeira e John Dunn, recém-chegados da Inglaterra. A criação contou, na época, com o apoio do Departamento de Psiquiatria da UNIFESP. Inicialmente (1994-1996) funcionou dentro do Complexo Hospital São Paulo, com o objetivo de atender funcionários dependentes.
